Viticulture: The grapes are cultivated using sustainable, ecological and biodynamic viticulture and work horses are used instead of tractors. The harvest is carried out manually in 10 kg boxes.

Winemaking: When the Phinca Hapa Elvillar Blancogrape reaches the winery, it is destemmed and fermented with its skins in 2,000-litre concrete tanks for two months. The resulting wine is then pressed and transferred into 600-litre foudres for 12 months. Finally it is bottled, adding a minimum amount of sulfur.

Phinca Hapa Elvillar Blanco 2017 is a white orange wine that has a complex nose with aromas of quince, peach and honey along with delicious balsamic notes. On the palate it is unctuous, dense and very mineral. It has structure, good acidity and length.

 

About the producer: Bodegas Bhilar is a boutique winery located in Elvillar, Rioja Alavesa, run by husband and wife team, David Sampedro and Melanie Hickman. Their goal is to make terroir-driven wines with soul, respect the land, work only with indigenous grapes, and to share their unique wines with good people with positive energy.
