This one from Laureano Serres is meant to be very yeasty and punky!Mendall wines can be quite extreme, with some qualities some customers may not enjoy, whilst others love. They can be highly volatile in acidity or have other elements that some may hate… or love. Please only buy these wines if you accept this and know they are very wild!
About the producer: Laureano Serres is the face and the man behind Mendall wines, a natural wine estate in Pinell de Brai by Tarragona, south of Catalonia. Considered one of the pioneers in natural wine making in his region, Laureano who initially worked as a software developer in the Spanish capital returned to his hometown and took over the family vineyard. His whites have long fermentation processes while his reds have a much shorter time in vats, yet the heat and grapes offer big, bold flavours and solid tannic structure making them ideal for food. The wines of Mendall often feature Volatile Acidity (V.A) and an experimental approach, and cuvees can change a lot vintage to vintage. Laureano Serres is one of the co-founders of the Brutal wine label, which he made with his close friend Joan of Escoda Sanahuja, Remi Poujol and Anthony Tortul. Popular wines include Terme de Guiu, Brutal, Abuerador, Barrica de Thierry and Dos Tires.
