Biodynamic Austrian wine from Gut Oggau, made using Blaufrankisch and Zweigelt. Atanasius is made with natural yeast in wooden barrels to produce a stunning rich yet smooth wine with Burgundy like finesse. The fruity aromas are charming and open; affectionate and gentle. It is very attractive on the palate, with powerful stony minerality and a plethora of berry flavours. This is combined with a savoury, meaty umami note on the finish. With each passing year, Atanasius gets slightly more mature, full-bodied, and serious. Every vintage retains its confidence, straight forward nature and youthful spirit. Delicious red, impossible not to enjoy.
About the producer: Gut Oggau is a 14-hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by the Lake Neusiedl. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie. The individual personalities of the wine are expressed in the faces on the labels created by Jung von Matt (German designer) and brought together in the Gut Oggau family tree. A unique and fascinating way of describing the wines, they taste every bit as intriguing as the labels suggest.
