Winemaking: This elegant white wine from Germany is made from the grape variety Scheurebe. In the Palatinate region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, limestone and loess. When the perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for the Scheu aber geil Scheurebe are harvested particularly quickly and at the coolest possible time of day to preserve their aromas. After the grapes have been harvested, they are taken to the winery by the fastest route possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Scheu aber geil Scheurebe can harmonize further for a few months on the fine lees

Vegan?: Yes

Scheurebe is intriguing less known German grape but as interesting as Sylvaner and Riesling. Palate is being enticed with notes of grapefruit, mandarin and lime. Wine is juicy and fresh with good mineral finish.

About the producer: This family business is into its fifth generation, after brothers Alexander and Martin took over from their father Norbert in 2011. The brothers set out on a radical, even controversial path to show German wines in a new and irreverent light. Their names and labels of course captured the imagination and people’s attention – their wines have featured pit-side at the German Grand Prix – but behind the anecdotes and jokes are brilliantly made wines from the rolling hills of the Pfalz and their vineyards in and around Landau- Nussdorf.
