Abundantly aromatic, with citrus and tropicality blending with smokiness from the time in barrels. Fresh acidity and rounded texture from lees-ageing make it stunningly balanced on the palate.
About the producer: Historically difficult to access, Rioja Oriental (formerly Rioja Baja) remained relatively isolated from the central prestige areas of Rioja. It is here that you'll find Nestares Eguizábal, a family-owned organic-practicing winery headed by founder Jose Maria Nestares. The vineyards were planted in 1983 on a plateau between Valle de Ocón and Valle de Jubera at 520-650 metres above sea levels. The winemakers strive to make unique, memorable Rioja wines that reflect both family tradition and the historic provenance of the region.
