Nero di Troia is grown predominantly in Northern Puglia. This example shows very interesting and complex cherry, dried herb and spice characteristics, vibrant acidity and good length.
About the producer: The Calcarius project began through the close relationship Valentina Passalacqua had with her land. Gaining a deep knowledge of the terrior, this lead to specific plots being isolated, these characterized by Kimmeridgian calcareous soil. Indigenous varieties are grown on the farm which are the result of a historical-cultural contamination that has its roots in Magna Graecia, the period of history when the Greeks settled in the Southern parts of Italy. Nero di Troia, Bombino, Greco, Falanghina, Negroamaro and Aleatico are all grown. All of Valentina’s wines are made in a minimal-interventionist way.
